The name “thistles and rainbows” is a tribute to my mom, who passed away in 2015. She was very proud of her Scottish heritage. Her parents came to America from Scotland when they were teenagers and my mom spent 6 months in Scotland as a child. The thistle is the national flower of Scotland and every time I see one, I am reminded of my mom.
My mom was also a prayer warrior! She loved Jesus, and prayed fiercely for her family every day! She also loved rainbows and she would get so excited every time she saw one. Sometimes she would call me just to tell me that she saw a rainbow and that God was reminding her of His faithfulness. (I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Genesis 9:13)
I love the contrast of thistles and rainbows. Thistles are pretty, but prickly, and can cause immense pain. Rainbows are beautiful, but are most often seen after a storm. Life is like that. Full of both beauty and pain. Sometimes we hold both at the same time. Sometimes what initially looks pretty, ends up being painful. Sometimes we don’t see the beauty until after the storm.
So with that extensive backstory, let me tell you a bit about thistles and rainbows. Crafting brings me joy! Creating makes me come alive. I can get lost for hours in my craft room and it seems like no time has passed by. My shop is a reflection of that love. Whether I am creating a physical product or a digital download for you to enjoy, I put my heart into every step. I hope that my love of creativity inspires you and brings a bit of joy to your life as well and I can’t wait to share little touches of my creativity with all of you.
